Recent health challenges led Georgia residents to weigh divorce

On Behalf of | Sep 6, 2022 | Family Law |

In recent years in Georgia and across the nation, the ongoing national challenges impacted many lives and led to people reconsidering their marital relationship. There are many reasons for this. People need to understand all aspects of a divorce based on the law and what they might be confronted with in every potential scenario. For those who are in this situation, it is important to be diligent in the process and have experienced help.

Researchers say Georgia was near the top in people web searching divorce

Across the nation, more than one-third of married couples stated that the past several years had strained their marriage. A recent study showed how many people did a web search for legal help with a divorce from March 2020 and beyond. This information came from the Institute for Family Studies.

Another researcher, Divorce Answers, said that Georgia had nearly 257,000 web searches for divorce lawyers in the past two-and-a-half years. More than 3% of married couples in Georgia conducted such a search. This placed it fourth in the nation. The marital problems stemmed from people being forced to stay at home, work from home, endure financial difficulties, care for their children and have more time together than they were accustomed. It sparked feelings of reflection, catching the partner being dishonest and causing friction.

Those considering divorce should have advice with the process

Simply because someone did a web search about divorce does not necessarily mean they are going to move forward with ending the marriage. Still, if the marital challenges cannot be ironed out, it is wise to have guidance with a family law case. That includes alimony, child custody, visitation, child support, property division and more.

It can be difficult and complicated, but if the marriage has reached a point where it cannot be repaired, it might be preferable to divorce and move on. When assessing the available options, it is useful to have professional advice and representation.
